Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend K.Zarbaliyeva / The prisoner who escaped from prison in Azerbaijan's city of Ganja has been detained in Azerbaijan's district of Tartar.
A resident of the village of Khangervend of Azerbaijan's district of Goranboy, Rahib Hashimov, escaped from prison No 2 in Azerbaijan's city of Ganja on the evening of 4 January.
The Head Department of the Penal Service of Azerbaijan's Ministry of Justice reported to Trend on 8 January that Hashimov was detained by the law enforcement bodies. A criminal case on him has been filed in Ganja Prosecutor's Office.
Hashimov, born in 1980, was sentenced to 3? years in prison in August 2006 for stealing. Hashimov was employed in the domestic branch of the prison.
