Head of Prison in  Azerbaijan’s City of   Ganja Dismissed

Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend K.Zarbaliyeva / The Head of the prison No 2 in Azerbaijan's city of Ganja was instituted to disciplinary responsibility, a source stated at Head Department of the Penal Service of Azerbaijan's Ministry of Justice on 8 January.

According to the order by Azerbaijan's Ministry of Justice, Fikrat Mammadov, the Head of the prison, Firdovsi Niftaliyev and his deputy Ibrahim Mammadov, were dismissed from their positions.

A resident of the village of Khangervend of Azerbaijan's district of Goranboy, Rahib Hashimov,escaped from prison No 2 in Azerbaijan's city of Ganja on the evening of 4 January.

However, he was detained by law-enforcement bodies in Azerbaijan's district of Tartar on 8 January.

A criminal case has been filed with regards to him in Ganja Prosecutor's Office.

Hashimov, born in 1980, was sentenced to three and a half years in prison in August 2006 for stealing. Hashimov was working in the domestic branch of the prison.
