New Chief Appointed to Prison in  Azerbaijan’s City of   Ganja

Azerbaijan, Baku 10 January /corr. Trend K.Zarbaliyeva / A new Chief was appointed to the prison No 2 in Azerbaijan's city of Ganja, a source stated from the Head Department of the Penal Service of Azerbaijan's Ministry of Justice, on 10 Jan. Fikrat Mammadov, the Azerbaijan's Minister of Justice, issued an order, appointing the Deputy Chief of Shuvalan prison No 3 in Baku, Zahid Huseynov, to the position of Chief of the prison No2.

Last week, an inmate- Rahib Hashimov has escaped from the prison No 2. After this, the chief of the prison No 2, Firdovsi Niftaliyev and his deputy Ibrahim Mammadov, were dismissed from their positions as per the orders by the Justice Minister. Rahib Hashimov, a resident of the village of Khangervend of Azerbaijan's district -Goranboy, escaped from the prison No 2 in Azerbaijan's city of Ganja, on the evening of 4 January. However, he was detained by the law-enforcement bodies in Azerbaijan's district of Tartar on 8 January. A criminal case has been filed against him in the Ganja Prosecutor's Office.

In the August 2006, Hashimov, born in 1980, was sentenced to three and a half years in the prison for the stealing. Hashimov was working in the domestic branch of the prison.
