Azerbaijan’s Interior Minister Satisfied with Baku Police

Azerbaijan, Baku, 21 January / corr. Trend E. Huseynli/ The interior minister of Azerbaijan expressed his satisfaction with the Baku police.

"The city police has fulfilled the assigned tasks in their fight against crime in the capital and securing public safety in both last year and previous years," Ramil Usubov, the interior minister of Azerbaijan, colonel-general said at a review of the year meeting held in the Baku Central Police Office on 21 January.

Maharram Aliyev, the head of the Baku Central Police Office was dismissed in July of 2007. This is the first review of the year meeting since Rafig Abbasov's appointment to the post.

According to the minister, as a result of measures taken to eliminate inaccuracies that were detected during a check in July, positive changes have taken place in solving crimes. According to Usubov, the ministry has fully analyzed the efficiency in Baku. According to the minister, in 2007, solved crimes increased by 2% compared to last year and the number of unsolved crimeshas decreased by 10.3%.
