Plenipotentiaries of Candidate for Presidency of Russia elected from Azerbaijani Party

Azerbaijan, Baku, 22 January / corr. Trend S. Ilhamgizi / Two members of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan headed by Rauf Gurbanov were elected as the plenipotentiaries of Gennadi Zuganov, nominated for the presidential elections in Russia. Gurbanov said Trend on 22 January.

The candidates nominated from the Communist Party of Azerbaijan (CPA) to the composition of the Political Council of the Unity of the Communist Parties which will be held on 26 January were approved at the meeting of the party bureau held on 21 January. Two plenipotentiaries were elected from CPA for Zuganov, the candidate for Russian presidency and the chairman of the Central Committee of the Russian Communist Party.

New members have been elected as well for the vacant positions in the Executive Committee and Political Council of party.

The presidential elections in Russia will be held on 2 March. The Communist Party of Azerbaijan supports the candidate Gennadi Zuganov for presidency.

The left CPA was re-established in 1993. After the death of the chairman Ramiz Ahmadov last year the party split into supporters of the deputy chairman Rauf Gurbanov and Rustam Shahsuvarov. Each of the parties held their meetings and claim to be called CPA.
