Azerbaijani Opposition Parties to Create Bloc Around its Candidate

Azerbaijan, Baku, 24 January / Trend corr. G.Jabiyev / The Azerbaijani Democratic Party (ADP) of Azerbaijan will establish a bloc around its candidate. "We made the decision to participate in the presidential elections and wish to establish the bloc around its candidate," Sardar Jalaloglu, ADP chairman stated to Trend.

The presidential elections will be held in Azerbaijan on 15 October 2008.

The opposition Musavat, Umid and Great Establishment parties stated that they would participate in the upcoming presidential elections. The Azadlig bloc, which unites three opposition parties, Popular Front, Liberal and Citizen and Development, stated that it would boycott the approaching presidential elections if the composition of the election commissions was not announced. DPA proposes to form a coalition opposition group.

"We may cooperate with all political forces which have similar points of views with ADP and stick to the same opposition position," Jalaloglu said.

ADP was founded by Sardar Jalaloglu in 1991.
