New Allied Agreement to be Signed between Azerbaijani Oppositional Parties

Azerbaijan, Baku, 24 January corr. Trend S. Ilhamgizi / A new allied agreement can be signed between the oppositional parties of Azerbaijan in connection with the presidential elections to be held in 2008. Chingiz Demiroglu, the chairman of the Tereggi oppositional party said Trend.

The officials of the party Musavat, Popular Front Party, Democratic Party of Azerbaijan, For Azerbaijan Public Forum representing Azerbaijan have been holding meetings since summer of 2007. They discussed the tactics of taking part in the presidential elections to be held in October of 2008 in the meeting held on 24 January.

According to Demiroglu, oppositional Troika closely agrees in some issues. The sides are planning to sign allied agreement. A decision will be adopted in the framework of this format. We aim at holding the second round and then to win the unity of the opposition," the chairman of the party Tereggi said.

Isa Gambar, the leader of the Musavat party represented in the Five and Etibar Mammadov, the leader of the Azerbaijan National Independence Party (ANIP) were nominated for the 2003 presidential elections.

ANIP does not rule out the alliance of five oppositional parties. But the activist of ANIP Ali Orujov says that if political situation in the country does not change, if freedom of assembly is not provided, equal conditions are not created there is no point in taking part in the presidential elections, Orujov said.
