Azerbaijani President Notes Azerbaijan’s Important Role in  Europe’s Energy Security

Switzerland, Davos, 24 January / Тrend corr S. Seyidov / Speaking at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev noted the important role of Azerbaijan in Europe's energy security and as an alternative source of energy supply.

He spoke about the economic development in Azerbaijan, the current situation with implementation of energy projects, the country's policy intended for integration into Europe and regional cooperation.

In Davos, President Aliyev held a range of bilateral meetings with Presidents and the Governmental heads who are participating in the WEF.

The Azerbaijani President is also participating in the energy summit in Davos. The heads of the world's large energy companies and the Presidents of the countries supplying power resources to Europe will be in attendance. President Aliyev is expected to speak about the energy policy of Azerbaijan.

According to a tradition, since establishment of the forum in 1971, the heads of largest companies in the world (from oil and finance giants to world news agencies) annually meet in Davos. According to the organizers, in 2008, some 800 representatives of big business will be in attendance.
