Murder of Infamous Criminal Called Chechen Ruslan to be Considered by Baku Prosecutor Office

Azerbaijan, Baku, 25 January / Trend corr. K.Zarbaliyeva / The term of imprisonment of condemned for the murder of infamous criminal called Chechen Ruslan, killed in Baku, was postponed for a month.

On 25 November, A man was shot in front of the restaurant Tongal on Hasan Aliyev Street. The victim was Ragub Rustamov, 45, a Russian citizen from the Azerbaijani region of Agdam.

On 28 November, Akif Sariyev and Alinur Sariyev, who were near to the victim when the incident happened, were accused of leaving a person in danger and not informing police of the incident.

The Narimanov District of Baku Prosecutor Office reported to Trend that the criminal case has been filed over the fact on the contravening Article 120.1 (premeditated homicide) and 228.1 (illegal gain, transfer, sale, possession, and transportation or carrying of firearms) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan was forward to the Heinous Crime Court of Baku for consideration.

The detainees, Akif Sariyev and Alinur Sariyev, are relatives, and were in the Tongal restaurant with Rustamov on the day of the incident. Alinur Sariyev's father, Chingiz Sariyev, was killed in Russia by unknown assailants on 15 February 2007. The reason for the Sariyev's meeting with Rustamov was to clarify who had killed Chingiz Sariyev. The Sariyevs reported that during the meeting Rustamov promised to pay money to find Chingiz Sariyev's assailant.

Rustamov left the restaurant and was shot from a white BMW that was driving past. The vehicle disappeared immediately thereafter.

The Sariyevs, residents of Garachalli village in the Ujar region of Azerbaijan, were considered to be one of the heads of the Veshnaki fruit and vegetable wholesalers located near by Vikhino market in Moscow. One of the brothers, who are known in Moscow as '9 brothers', was killed on 15 February this year, and another one was shot in Moscow on the night of 30 August
