Azerbaijan, Baku, 28 January / corr. Trend S. Ilhamgizi / The opposition party Umid will launch election preparations on 1 February, the party said to Trend on 28 January.
Regular presidential elections will be held in Azerbaijan on October 2008. Igbal Agazadeh, the chairman of the Umid party plans to be nominated for the elections.
The program on preparations of the presidential elections was approved at a party meeting on 27 January. The meeting decided to implement the program from 1 February.
The Umid party will not provide detailed information about their election campaign and program of preparations until the election campaign starts officially.
The party meeting also approved permission of the new regional departments and that of the departments in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Certificates will circulated among Umid party members within the next few days.
Igbal Agazadeh, the chairman of the Umid party is an MP of the Azerbaijani parliament.
