Search of pilots, died in war-plane crash complicated due to unstable weather conditions

Azerbaijan, Baku, 30 January / Trend corr. K.Zarbaliyeva / The search of pilots, died as a result of crash of war-plane MIG-29, belonging to the Military Air Forces of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry, was complicated due to unstable weather conditions, press-service of the Ministry reported.

An MIG-29 war-plane of the Azerbaijan Air Force crashed on 29 January not far from the Shurabad village of Khizi region resulting in the death of both pilots, Fakhraddin Askarov and Afgan Aslanov. The plane fell into the sea with crash site depth noted at 15 meters. The reasons for the incident are being defined.

The pilot bodies have not been found yet. A salvage work is implemented in the scene of the accident.

The 'flight recorder' is still missing. The plane was possibly purchased from Ukraine at the beginning of 2007. The Ukrainian Defense Ministry told Trend that on 30 January the crashed MIG-29 belonged to the batch of planes purchased from Ukraine, but until now, this has not been confirmed.

A criminal case has been filed over the case.

The Ukrainian Defence Ministry press-service and Ukrainian embassy in Azerbaijan reported that Ukraine may send specialists to investigate the reason of the accident in compliance with the international norms. However, there is a need to approve that the war-plane crashed in the country.
