Azerbaijan, Baku 18 February /corr Trend S.Agayeva / Azerbaijan regards the self claimed independence of Kosovo as illegal, Khazar Ibrahim, spokesman for Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, stated on 18 February.
"Temporary self-government bodies of Kosovo announced Kosovo's separation from Serbia," Ibrahim said.
It counteracts International law, according to Ibrahim.
Azerbaijan's position on Kosovo is based on its national interests, but does not emerge from someone else's position, Spokesman for the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Khazar Ibrahim said.
"There is neither a pro-Russian, nor pro-American position on this issue. There are unique positions of all countries," he said.
"We are not afraid of anyone or try to prevent the possible recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh's independence by other countries following the independence for Kosovo" he said.
According to Ibrahim, no country in the world which has been supporting the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan so far will recognize the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh.
