First Meeting of Turkic Speaking Countries’ Inter-parliamentary Council to Take Place

Azerbaijan, Baku, 19 February / Trend corr I. Alizade / The first meeting of the Inter-parliamentary Council of Turkic Speaking Countries will take place in Antalya, Turkey, on 21-22 February, the Azerbaijani Parliament reported on 19 February.

The meeting will discuss the presidium of the Council, its composition, membership terms, working languages and other organizational issues. The purpose of the council, to include a range of Turkic Speaking countries MP's, is to establish a single mechanism in the form of a parliamentary union of Turkic speaking countries and to improve relations by bringing close their political views, experience exchanges, and implementation of joint projects.

An Azerbaijani delegation headed by the First Deputy Speaker Ziyafat Askarov will be in attendance. The delegation will include MPs Rafael Jabrayilov, Ahmad Valiyev and the head of the Parliamentary Secretariat Sayad Alaskarov.
