Azerbaijan’s Governing Party to Re-Organise Governing Positions

Azerbaijan, Baku, 7 March / Trend corr G. Jabiyev/ The governing New Azerbaijan Party (NAP) is expected to re-organise its governing positions. "Some changes may be made," MP Mubariz Gurbanli, the NAP Deputy Executive Secretary, told Trend on 7 March.

At the next NAP meeting, the Chair of the Party, President Ilham Aliyev will be nominated for the presidential elections scheduled for October.

According to Gurbanli, preparations for the meeting which is expected to take place between April and June are being currently held. He did not specify the arrangements to be held.

NAP was founded in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan (NAR) in 1992 by Heydar Aliyev, who then was the chair of the Nakhchivan Parliament. The current chairman of the party is the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
