Azerbaijan, Baku, 11 March / Trend / On March 11 the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Francesco Ricci Bitti, President of the International Tennis Federation (ITF), and Shamil Tarpischev, President of the Russian Tennis Federation.
Ilham Aliyev spoke of the intensive development of sports in the country and state care and attention rendered to it, stressing that modern sports infrastructures meeting international standards were created in the regions of the country as well. President Aliyev expressed his confidence that in Azerbaijan, a modern infrastructure would be created for the development of tennis too.
The President of the International Tennis Federation said that tennis has a great tradition in Azerbaijan and mentioned the Azerbaijani tennis players Ahmarov, Likhachov, and Biryukova.
He said there were the necessary conditions and grounds for the development of tennis, and great attention to the sport would also have a positive influence on tennis in Azerbaijan.
