CIS to Develop Cooperation with Organizations in Post Soviet Area– Sergey Lavrov
Russia, Moscow, 28 March / Trend corr. R.Agayev / CIS stands for development of the cooperation with organizations in the post-Soviet countries. "We support establishment and development of contacts by CIS Executive Committee with organizations in the post-Soviet area," Sergey Lavrov, Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, stated during the opening ceremony of CIS Foreign Ministers meeting.
Lavrov called structures for cooperation like Shanghais Cooperation Organization (SCO), Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and Eurasian Economic Cooperation (EEC).
Lavrov expressed positive attitude towards interaction of CIS with different organizations and noted the importance of development of partnership on the international level.
"One of the key issues of discussion will be the plan of events on CIS development and fulfillment of this issue. The issues will also include consideration of Kazakhstan's chairmanship in OSCE in 2009, as well as rules and procedures of interaction in CIS.
The plan of meeting of CIS countries Heads Council scheduled for 23 May in Minsk will also be considered during the meeting.
Polad Bul-Buloglu, the Azerbaijani Ambassador in Russia, will represent Azerbaijan in the meeting.
