Russia and Azerbaijan Have All Grounds to Look at Future with Optimism: Russian Deputy FM

Russia, Moscow, 4 April /corr. Trend R.Agayev / Russia and Azerbaijan have all grounds to look at the future with good mood, with optimism, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia, Grigori Karasin, said in Moscow on 4 April.

"Indeed 4 April is a considerable date. 16 years ago sovereign Azerbaijan and sovereign Russia established full-scale diplomatic relations," Karasin stated at a press-conference dedicated to 16th anniversary of establishment of the diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Russia.

"Many events have taken place since then. Both Russia and Azerbaijan looked through themselves in a new way and jointly consulting in partner regime, devising ways of establishing their relations with the surrounding world. We are not simply neighbors, we are relatives, we have colossal general history which testifies that Azeri and Russian peoples are brothers and partners," Karasin said.

According to the Deputy Minister, the sides could do much from economic and cultural co-operation. "Of course, life imposes hard targets before us. They are linked with the geo-political problems and problems in the region of South Caucasus, which are away from solution. However, it always is done in the atmosphere of mutual respect and understanding, and I am quite sure that exactly this atmosphere is characteristic for the Russian-Azerbaijani relations in the coming future," he added.
