Two Azerbaijani Opposition Parties May Unite

Azerbaijan, Baku, 7 April / Trend corr J. Babayeva/ The National Democracy Party of Azerbaijan and the Azadlig party may unite, the Chair of Azadlig Ahmad Oruj said to Trend on 7 April.

Both parties are represented at the Union for Democracy and the Democratic Elections Centre.

According to Oruj, leaving of the policy by such a personality as Gamidov will seriously affect the activities of the Union for Democracy.

"Without Iskandar bey, who is the main carrier of the national and democratic values, the Union for Democracy will not have the previous power," he said.

Oruj said that the discussions on unification of the parties were commenced long ago. "The parties can merge because they have common platform and principles," he said.
