Azerbaijani Embassy in Russia Sends Note of Protest to Russian Foreign Ministry on Invitation of NKR Representatives to International Conference

Russia, Moscow, 7 April / corr. Trend R. Agayev/ The Embassy of Azerbaijan in Russian Federation expressed is protest against the fact that the representatives of self-declared Nagorno-Karabakh republic have been invited to the conference After Kosovo: Cooperation of Unrecognized States for Development held on 28 March in the CIS Institute of Moscow.

On 28 March 2008, the CIS Institute in Moscow led by Zatullin, the Deputy Chairman of Russian parliament Committee on CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) held an international conference After Kosovo: Cooperation of Unrecognized States for Development. The representatives of self-declared Nagorno-Karabakh republic were invited to the conference as well.

On 7 April 2008 the Azerbaijani Embassy in Russia sent a note of protest to the Foreign Ministry of Russia in this regard. The note of protest focuses on the illegal activities by Zatullin who is the member of legislative body of Russia and the Deputy Chairman of Russian parliament Committee on CIS and the document points to the inadmissibility of holding of this conference.

The Embassy obviously states that the invitation of Russian Foreign Ministry and Russian government representatives to the conference is contrary to the strategic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia and all political and juridical documents signed between the two countries.

The note of protest requests Russian Foreign Ministry to give explanation regarding the conference.
