Azerbaijan, Baku, 11 April / Trend corr. G.Jabiyev / The Azerbaijani pro-governmental Ana Vatan party considers the opposition has no power to change the reality.

"Nobody can fundamentally change life in Azerbaijan by any unpractical steps. Changes can take place only by strengthening of the authorities and mobilization of resources to remove the problems," Zahid Oruj, Ana Vatan deputy chairman, stated to Trend .

The presidential elections in Azerbaijan will be held in October 2008. The opposition Musavat and Democratic parties, that decided to participate in the elections, stated that they would represent alternative successful platform against the authorities during the pre-election campaign.

According Oruj, the authorities will strengthen on the threshold of presidential elections. "Opposition will weaken as it cannot find its platform in order to attract people and nominate one candidate," he said.

He said opposition would fight for the second place. As, the political course of Azerbaijani President is directed towards strengthening of the country's position in the region, it necessitates that Ilham Aliyev continue with his post.
