Azerbaijan, Baku, 15 April / Trend corr. K.Zarbaliyeva / The fifth stage of Regional Program the Southern Caucasus Anti Drug (SCAD) program was commenced.
Mazair Afandiyev, coordinator on Azerbaijan, stated that the European Union has allocated $750,000 to implement events within the framework of SCAD-5 for next two years.
Afandiyev stated that it was planned to improve the legislation, implement trainings for the judges and Prosecutor Office officials, development of analytical report on drug state, analyses of information, and regional cooperation among law enforcement agencies.
SCAD program has been operating for six years within the framework of the agreement signed by EU, UN Development Program and Azerbaijani Government in 2001.
Up till now, four stages of the Program have been implemented. Within the framework of the project, financial and technical aid was rendered to the law enforcement agencies, which hold fight against illegal drug trafficking. In total, €2mln was allocated for five stages of the Program.
The first State program on fight against illegal drug trafficking was adopted for 2000-2006, the second for - 2007-2012.
