Azerbaijani Musavat Party Against Nomination of Candidatures Collected Less Votes during Previous Elections

Azerbaijan, Baku, 17 April / Trend corr. S.Ilhamgizi / The Azerbaijani Musavat party considers it wrong for candidates who collected minor votes during previous presidential elections to participate in the upcoming presidential elections.

"Nomination of candidates with 3% and 5% votes or even less collected during the previous elections is pointless," Arif Hajili, Musavat Executive Department Head stated Trend .

Candidates, who collect 20% or 25% votes, should discontinue its political activities, Isa Gambar, leader of Musavat party, stated. Gambar nominated his candidature to the presidential post.

According to Hajili, members of Musavat are certain that their candidate will collect over 50% of the votes. "If the elections is held in a democratically, then its results will show who should discontinue its political activities," a member of Musavat stated.

Opposition party Musavat was founded in 1992. Isa Gambar, the present Chairman of the Party was the Ex-Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament (Milli Majlis) in 1992-1993 and the candidate nominated to the Presidential elections held in the country in 2003. Five MPs represents the Party in the Parliament of the Country
