Azerbaijan, Baku, 17 April / Trend corr S. Agayeva/ Valdis Zatlers, the Latvian President, plans to visit Azerbaijan. This will be a return visit because Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev paid an official visit to the country in Oct 2006.
"The issues on preparation of Latvian President's visit to Azerbaijan will be discussed by Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov at the meeting with the Latvian officials during his official visit to Riga on 23-24 April," Azerbaijani Ambassador to Latvia Tofig Zulfugarov said from Riga on 17 April.
The mutual interest between Azerbaijan and Latvia, which are members of GUAM and the Baltic Assembly, is increasing day by day. And it is not ruled out that in the future cooperation between the two countries may turn from bilateral relations into the cooperation between the organizations.
"The cooperation prospects will be discussed during the visit of the Latvian President," Ambassador stated.
