Baku is Ready to Receive Co-Reporteurs of Council of Europe: Head of Azerbaijani Parliament Mission

France, Strasbourg, 18 April / corr. Trend A. Maharramli/ Baku is ready for a constructive dialogue with co-reporteurs of Monitoring Committee of Council of Europe (CE) on Azerbaijan. "We are ready for that visit. Azerbaijan, as a constructive government, is waiting for the co-reporteurs," Samad Seyidov, the head of Azerbaijani Parliament mission in CE said to Trend on 18 April.

Next visit of co-reporteurs of Monitoring Committee Andreas Herkel and Yevgeniya Jikova is fixed for 17-19 May. The experts exercise control over fulfillment of the various obligations taken by Azerbaijan during its admission to CE, consistency of democratic processes with the European norms and protection of the human rights.

The visit will take place prior to the June session of PACE where the issues concerning Azerbaijan will be discussed, Seyidov said.

According to him, Azerbaijan plans to take an active part in the meeting of parliament chairmen of CE member states fixed for 22-23 May. "The Council of Europe is interested in providing large opportunities to its guests from Azerbaijan, to express their views and to inform about the various developments in Azerbaijan," said the head of Azerbaijani parliament mission.

The spring session of PACE ended on 18 April.
