Azerbaijan, Baku, 21 April / Trend corr. S.Ilhamgizi / Fuad Mukhtarov, Secretary-General of the Azerbaijani National independent Party (ANIP), believes that the failure of the party is connected with its former chairman.

"The Former chairman of the party should not blame others for his own failures," Mukhtarov said Trend on 21 April.

Ayaz Rustamov, ANIP ex-chairman, resigned from the chairmanship position at the end of 2007.

Rustamov reported to Trend that ANIP is a serious and authorized party and therefore supreme departments of the party should consider candidates for the chairmanship position of the party. Rustamov noted that persons, who worked during his chairmanship should not nominate for the position. The persons are Mukhtarov, the Secretary General, and Ali Akparov, the chairman of the Central Council.

"I nominated the candidature of both of them. During my chairmanship ANIP's activity was criticized and our activity did not satisfy its members. It means that the activity of both of them were unsatisfactory. Therefore, they should not nominate their candidatures," Rustamov stated. However, Mukhstarov did not agree with such arguments and replied that the dissatisfaction of Ayaz Rustamov was due to him being inactive due to health problems.

ANIP was the first party received registration in Azerbaijan in 1992. Etibar Mammadov had been the founder and chairman of the party by 2004. Presently, Mammadov is the deputy chairman of the International Democratic Alliance.
