Azerbaijan, Baku, 22 April / Trend corr. K.Ramazanova / The meeting involving the experts of the Caspian Sea states on security and the fight against new challenges and threats in the region is expected to be held in Baku. The agreement to hold the meeting was made between the Azerbaijani and Russian Foreign Ministers by telephone on 21 April, Khazar Ibrahim a spokesperson of Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, reported Trend .

Before the USSR collapsed, the Caspian Sea's legal status was based on Soviet-Iranian agreements dated 1921 and 1940. In November 2003, the Caspian states signed a framework agreement on the protection of the marine environment of the Caspian Sea.

In May 2003.Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Russia signed an agreement on different territories of the Caspian Sea.
