Azerbaijan to Give Consent to use Country’s Roads and Railways to Transport Cargos for Anti-Terrorist Forces in Afghanistan

Azerbaijan, Baku, 22 April /corr. Trend I.Alizade / Azerbaijan will give its consent to NATO suggestions to use the Country's roads and railways for transportation of anti-terrorist forces cargos for Afghanistan. "Because it is beneficial economically, and on the other hand, Azerbaijan is an active member of anti-terrorism coalition," the member of Azerbaijan Parliament's Commission for Security and Defence and Azerbaijani delegation to NATO, MP Siyavush Novruzov, reported to Trend on 22 April.

NATO Special Representative for South Caucasus and Central Asia, Robert Simmons, said that the organization wants to use the roads and railways of Azerbaijan to transport cargos to Afghanistan and has made an appeal to Baku in this regard.

The anti-terrorist coalition in Afghanistan is headed by NATO.

The MP added that the military air space of Azerbaijan is used for supply and replacement of anti-terror troops in Afghanistan. "I think that Azerbaijan will not oppose NATO suggestion to use Country's roads and railways. With it, the Country will make its next contribution in fight against international terrorism," Novruzov said.

About 45 Azerbaijani soldiers participate in anti-terror operations in Afghanistan.
