Azerbaijan Parliament Limits Using Flags of Foreign Countries

Azerbaijan, Baku, 25 April /corr. Trend I.Alizade / The Parliament of Azerbaijan has adopted a law determining the regulations of using flags of foreign countries and international organizations. "According to the law, flags of the foreign countries can not be hung in the foreign and local organizations, companies, trade facilities and center of holiday in Azerbaijan," said Samad Seyidov, the Chairman of Azerbaijan Parliament's Commission for Foreign and Inter-Parliamentary Relations and also Head of Azerbaijani delegation to PACE, during the session of Parliament on 25 April.

The session also focused on the Law on use of flags of foreign countries and international companies.

According to the law, the flags of the foreign countries and international organizations may be hung only in the diplomatic representations and consulates.

In addition, according to the law, the flags of the foreign countries may be hung up during the visit of a high-ranking delegation of the foreign countries. Moreover, the flags may be hung out in the international organizations in the places specified in protocol, in ships sailing in Azerbaijan's internal waters, foreign ships in Azerbaijani ports and during event of international importance in Azerbaijan.

"Ban was imposed on using the flags of foreign countries and international organizations, excluding the places specified by the international legal norms and regulations of diplomatic protocol," Seyidov said.

People who break the law will be made answerable.
