Huseynli/ "All varieties of military equipment of Azerbaijan will be demonstrated at the military review to take place in Baku on 26 April for the first time in the recent 16 years. The event will be devoted to the 90th anniversary of creation of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan," Eldar Sabiroglu, Spokesperson for Azerbaijani Defence Ministry, said to Trend on 26 April.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, who is also Supreme Commander-in-Chief, ordered to hold a military require due to the 90th anniversary of creation of the National Army.
Last time military review was held in the country in 1992.
By the decision of the Government of the Azerbaijani Democratic Republic, formation of the National Army of Azerbaijan commenced on 26 June 1918. The Muslim Corps including mainly Azerbaijanis was established, thus the foundation of the National Army of Azerbaijan was laid.
On 1 September 1918, it was decided to establish the Military Ministry in the country. By the governmental decree dated 25 December, General Samadaga Mehmandarov was appointed Military Minister, General Aliaga Shikhlinski was appointed Deputy Military Minister and General Suleyman Sulkevich was appointed head of the General Staff.
Sabiroglu said that the military review to be held in the Azadlig Square will demonstrate different tanks, canons, air fighters. The Defence Ministry has already commenced preparation of technical equipment and servicemen. "During the military review Azerbaijan will demonstrate its military power to the entire world," he said.
