Azerbaijani Parliamentary Commission Issues Two Regions City Status

Azerbaijan, Baku, 6 June / corr. TrendNews I. Alizade / The permanent parliamentary commission on regional issues of Milli Majlis [Azerbaijani Parliament] issues city status for Yardimli and Lerik, southern regions of the country. "Issuing Yardimli and Lerik the city status will give rise to social and economical development of these regions," Arif Rahimzade, the chairman of the permanent parliamentary commission, said.

This issue was discussed at the meeting of the commission on 6 June.

Rahimzade noted that the Lerik city has the population of 7,300 people. The infrastructure of the city meets necessary standards.

Yardimli city has the population of 4,100 people. Dashkend, Asadabad and Unesh villages will be annexed to Yardimli to confer it a city status and it will increase the number of local population to 6,600 people here.

The commission recommended presenting this issue to the Parliament for consideration.
