Membership of Azerbaijani Ruling Party Reaches 450,000
Azerbaijan, Baku. 10 June / corr. Trend E. Babayev/ The membership of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party (NAP) has reached 450,000, the press service of the party said to Trend .
More than 16,000 people joined the Party for the last 5 months of 2008. NAP believes that the rise in the party membership prior to the presidential elections is of political significance for this country. "This fact once again shows that every citizen joining NAP has already made his/her choice in the upcoming presidential elections. The current growth rates of the party membership can serve as an example of all-nation trust to the ideas of the party, national leader of Azerbaijan and his worthy successor, the President of this state and NAP chairman Ilham Aliyev. The main factor necessitating the big interest to NAP is the success of the political course of Ilham Aliyev which results in high economic growth. NAP uniting all 450,000 citizens who love their country, is the bearer of the ideas of the national leader Heydar Aliyev which are being successfully realized by the President Ilham Aliyev. This fact also shows that the candidate of NAP Ilham Aliyev will not have alternative in the upcoming presidential elections," NAP said.
NAP was established by the chairman of the Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Heydar Aliyev in 1992. The current President Ilham Aliyev is the chairman of the Party which has been ruling for already 14 years.
