Aliyev has sent a condolence letter to Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiyev
over the death of a prominent writer, Chingiz Aitmatov.
"The news of the death of world-famous writer, a prominent statesman and political
figure, Azerbaijan`s great friend Chingiz Torekulovich Aitmatov is a source
of great sorrow to me", President Aliyev said in the message.
The Azerbaijani leader said "on behalf of the people of Azerbaijan and on my own behalf, I offer sincere sympathies to You, as well as the family and
friends of Chingiz Aitmatov, and the people of Kyrgyzstan".
