PACE Bureau Not Discussing Azerbaijan-related Issues
France, Strasburg, 27 June / corr. Trend A. Maharramli, I. Alizade/ The Bureau of the Parliament Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) did not discuss Azerbaijan-related issues. According to Seyidov, the visit of the PACE chairman Maria de Puig to Azerbaijan at the late June was approved during the meeting.
The appointment of a special reporter on the political prisoners in Azerbaijan was expected to be discussed in PACE Bureau. The Resolution 11627 Pre-election Situation in Democratic Institutes of Azerbaijan was adopted in PACE meeting on 25 June.
The reports developed by the co-reporters include various issues such as improvement of the Election Code, eliminating restrictions for freedom of assembly and immediate release of the arrested journalists.
The adopted document reads that PACE calls on the Azerbaijani authorities to discuss the release of Natig Afandiyev, Rasim Alakbarov, Ruslan Bashirli, Akif Huseynov and Telman Ismayilov in the human basis.
