Azerbaijani, Russian Presidents to Sign Declaration in Baku
Azerbaijan, Baku, 3 July / Trend / Leaders of Russia and Azerbaijan, Dmitriy Medvedev and Ilham Aliyev, will sign a declaration on friendship between the two countries as a result of talks in Baku, Sergey Prikhodko, assistant to the Russian President, said.
He said that the agenda of the Russian president's two-day official visit which is to begin on 4 July includes a meeting between Dmitry Medvedev and Ilham Aliyev one to one and in large, putting a wreath at Heydar Aliyev's grave and a monument to victims, talks with the head of the religious confessions of Azerbaijan, as well as a visit to the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, RIA Novosti reported.
"As a result of the Russian-Azerbaijani talks on the top it is planned to sign a Declaration on friendship and strategic partnership between Russia and Azerbaijan, which will define major directions of cooperation in the upcoming period, as well as some interdepartmental documents to be signed between the Foreign Ministry, the Interior Ministry, the Federal Customs Service and the Russian Property Service and the relevant Azerbaijani ministers and agencies," Prikhodko said.
Speaking about the meeting with the head of religious confessions of Azerbaijan, he said that major attention will be paid to inter-confessional interaction, the role of Islam in the world religion, as well as interaction of the state and religion in combating the international terrorism.
Prikhodko called Azerbaijan as the strategic partner of Russia in South Caucasus and Caspian region on the long-term prospective.
The Russian leader's visit and the upcoming contact on the top level testify for dynamically developing multisided Russian-Azerbaijani dialogue," he said.
Prikhodko said that during the first meeting within the framework of the 12th Petersburg international economic forum in St. Petersburg on 6 June the two presidents of scheduled major topics to discuss during the talks Baku.
According to the assistant to the President, during the visit to Azerbaijan the Russian president will accompanied by the Russian foreign minister, the interior minister, energy minister, several heads of Russian regions, including Dagestan, Kalmakia, Astrakhan, head of the Federal Customs Service and the head of the Federal Agency for State Property Management.
