Azerbaijan, Baku, 8 July / Trend corr T.Jafarov/ President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said creation of a single Islamic currency would help uplift status of Islamic countries.
At a meeting with former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad, President Ahmadinejad said that for creation of a single Islamic currency he had insisted on acceleration of extra procedures and expert's views, Iran's IRNA new agency reported.
Calling for expansion of all-out cooperation among Islamic countries, he said Islamic states enjoyed high capabilities for development.
"The US along with some western countries is concerned about expansion of relations among Islamic countries," he said.
Ahmadinejad arrived in the Malaysian capital to attend the sixth Summit of the Eight Islamic Developing Countries (D8).
