Nominating of Presidential Contenders to Commence in Azerbaijan in Two Days

Azerbaijan, Baku, 28 July / Trend corr. E.Babayev/ Nominating of presidential contenders will commence in Azerbaijan in two days. "Within two days the Azerbaijani press will publish the decision, which will come into juridical force, to hold the presidential elections on 15 October. That will be followed by nomination of presidential contenders," Chairman of Central Election Committee (CEC) of Azerbaijan Mazahir Panahov said at a press conference on 28 July.

Panahov said the documents submitted by contenders would be considered within five days. "The decision on approval or non-approval of contenders will be taken then. Contenders will receive subscription lists. According to the new Election Code, contenders must collect 40,000 signatures," he said.

Chairman said the process regarding contenders will keep on going by the end of August.
