Azerbaijan, Baku, 3 September/ Trend , corr V. Zhavoronkova/ We are interested in the fulfillment of Medvedev-Sarkozy plan soon, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said, Vesti TV Channel reported.
Medvedev-Sarkozy plan on peace in the region consists of 6 items. Terms of peace are as follows: refusal to use force, armistice, providing free access to humanitarian aid, pull-back of Georgian armed forces to the position they held before, withdrawal of Russia troops to the positions they held before the conflict broke out and beginning international discussions on ways of providing security in Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
"Russia believes it is important for OSCE to take part in setting up international police and document on non-use of force can serve as a basis for it," Minister said in a briefing.
"It is being discussed with EU and OSCE at present. When it happens and international forces are set up, Russian peacekeepers can pull back from conflict zone," Lavrov said.
