Timoshenko, Cheney Discuss Regional Security, Diversification of Energy Resources Supply

Ukraine's Prime Minister Yuliya Timoshenko and U.S. Vice-President Richard Cheney discussed regional security, preservation of stability in the region and Ukraine, as well as opportunity to diversify the sources of energy resources supply, during a meeting between Ukrainian and U.S. delegations in Kiev, UNIAN quoted Spokesperson for Ukrainian Prime Minister Marina Soroka.

At the beginning of the meeting, Timoshenko thanked Cheney for the support which the United States is rendering to Ukraine to develop democracy.

Furthermore, Timoshenko informed Cheney of the results of the Ukrainian Government's operation.

"Democratic government and democratic parliament provided one of latest years' highest economic growth indices - 6.5%," she said.

The meeting between Timoshenko and Cheney lasted 40 minutes instead of 20 envisaged in the visit program.
