Public Prosecutor’s Office Employees to Swear in Baku

Azerbaijan, Baku, 2 October / Trend corr. K.Zarbaliyeva/ A total of 79 people, who have been admitted to public prosecutor's offices as a result of last employment competition, will swear at the meeting of the board dedicated to the 90th anniversary of foundation of prosecution bodies in Azerbaijan, Public Prosecutor Zakir Garalov said to journalists on 2 October.

By the decree of the Azerbaijani national leader Heydar Aliyev dated 17 July 1998, 1 October was announced the day of employees of the Azerbaijan Prosecutor's Office.

By the decree of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic Cabinet of Ministers dated 1 October 1918, prosecution bodies commenced operation within the Baku Circuit Court. On 18 November 1918, the Cabinet approved the Decree on Court Chamber of Azerbaijan.

Several days ago, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev approved the State Program on Upgrading of Azerbaijani Prosecutor's Office Activities for 2009-2011 on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of foundation of country's prosecution bodies and signed a decree to confer honorary and military titles on a group of prosecutor's office employees.

A large meeting of the board will take place at the Prosecutor General Office on 2 October.

Garalov said that 293 young lawyers have been admitted to prosecution bodies since 2002. "That is over 30% of prosecutor's office employees," he said.

According to Garalov, the approved State program envisages improvement of relations amongst law-enforcement bodies, establishment of new information and communication network, enhancement of international relations, and many other arrangements.
