501 International Observers Registered to Monitor Presidential Elections in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku, 3 October / Trend corr. A.Huseynbala / The Azerbaijani Central Elections Commission (CEC) registered 501 international observers to follow the presidential elections.

The registered observers are from the Council of Europe, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, the Commonwealth of Independent States Observation Mission, as well as from other foreign countries and organizations, Rovzat Gasimov, the head of the CEC International Relations Department, told Trend on 3 October.

The presidential elections in Azerbaijan will be held on 15 October. Seven candidates will take part in the elections, including Ilham Aliyev, chairman of ruling New Azerbaijan Party; Igbal Agazade, chairman of opposition Umid (Hope) Party; Fazil Gazanfaroglu, chairman of Great Establishment Party; Gudrat Hasanguliyev, chairman of Unified Popular Front Party; Hafiz Hajiyev, chairman of Muasir Musavat Party; Fuad Aliyev, chairman of Liberal Democrat Party and independent candidate Gulamhuseyn Alibayli.

Registration of observers will finish at the CEC ten days before the election day and at constituencies 5 days before the elections day.
