Azerbaijani Ombudsman Makes Public Presidential Election Plans

Azerbaijan, Baku, 4 October/ Trend , corr I. Alizade/ The Ombudsman Administration of Azerbaijan will work out a report on presidential elections campaign, voting and its outcome.

їAt least 25 members of Ombudsman Administration will observe elections. Additional 12 members in four regional centers will also observe elections. We will work out a final report by summing up our observation,ї Elmira Suleymanova, Azerbaijani Ombudsman said to Trend on 4 October.

Presidential elections in Azerbaijan will be held on 15 October. A total of seven candidates will take part in the elections including Ilham Aliyev, chairman of Ruling New Azerbaijan Party, Igbal Agazade, chairman of opposition Umid (Hope) Party, Fazil Gazanfaroglu, chairman of Great Establishment Party, Gudrat Hasanguliyev, chairman of Unified Popular Front Party, Hafiz Hajiyev, chairman of Muasir Musavat Party, Fuad Aliyev, chairman of Liberal Democrat Party and independent candidate Gulamhuseyn Alibayli.

She said members of Ombudsman Administration will observe elections in all regions of the country. They have been trained by the Central Election Commission (CEC). їCEC will conduct next training for all observers of Ombudsman Administration including members in the regional centers on 8 October,ї she added.

Observers will observe elections in military units and jails, she said.

їWe will observe elections in these places. I will also visit Election Information Center and polling stations. If there is any small violation in district election commissions or constituencies, I will inform respective agencies,ї she said.

Suleymanova portrayed pre-election situation in Azerbaijan as normal.
