Former Oppositionist Calls Electors to Support Ruling Party’s Candidate

Azerbaijan, Baku, 4 October / corr. Trend A.Huseynbala / Former member of the Presidium of the Azerbaijani opposition party Musavat will support a candidate of the ruling party at the forumcing presidential elections.

"Using the authorities, granted me by Tablig Islamic Charity Society and Seyid Sanctuaries of Karabakh under my leadership, I call on the people of Azerbaijan to take an active part in the elections, and to vote for Ilham Aliyev in the name of unity and development of our independent state," Seyid Jamal Azimbeyli, ex-member of Musavat Mejlis said told Trend .

Azimbeyli was a member of Musavat for approximately 10 years. Boycotting of presidential elections by the party was the major reason for his resignation.

The presidential elections in Azerbaijan will be held on 15 October. A total of seven candidates will take part in the elections including Ilham Aliyev, chairman of Ruling New Azerbaijan Party, Igbal Agazade, chairman of opposition Umid (Hope) Party, Fazil Gazanfaroglu, chairman of Great Establishment Party, Gudrat Hasanguliyev, chairman of Unified Popular Front Party, Hafiz Hajiyev, chairman of Muasir Musavat Party, Fuad Aliyev, chairman of Liberal Democrat Party and independent candidate Gulamhuseyn Alibayli.

The ex-member of Musavat took the decision to vote at the presidential elections for current president Ilham Aliyev, whom he appreciates for his active diplomacy for strengthening Azerbaijan's authority at the international arena.
