Opposition Party to Observe Elections in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku, 13 October /corr. Trend A.Huseynbala / Azerbaijani opposition Umid Party which participates in the presidential elections with own candidate will observe the elections in the election districts on the voting day.

їIn 70 districts there will be held monitoring directly on the process of elections and on the publication of the results of voting. We will assess the election results not according to the opinion of the Central Election Commission or other structures, but only according to our observations,ї chairman of Umid Party, presidential candidate Igbal Agazade, said to press-conference on 13 October. 

The presidential elections in Azerbaijan will be held on 15 October. Seven candidates will take part in the elections, including Ilham Aliyev, chairman of ruling New Azerbaijan Party; Igbal Agazade, chairman of opposition Umid (Hope) Party; Fazil Gazanfaroglu, chairman of Great Establishment Party; Gudrat Hasanguliyev, chairman of Unified Popular Front Party; Hafiz Hajiyev, chairman of Muasir Musavat Party; Fuad Aliyev, chairman of Liberal Democrat Party and independent candidate Gulamhuseyn Alibayli.

Agazade said that if the facts of falsification are revealed during the observations, the party will take relevant steps. їEach step, taken after the election day, will be realized in accordance with the Constitution,ї he added.

Agazade also expressed certain dissatisfaction with the agitation campaign. їEther time is not provided on the television channels for candidates for the agitation, except besides the advertising reels. Despite the fact that in the period of the election campaign, six complaints were presented to the Central Election Commission, positive response was provided to none of,ї he said.

The presidential candidate said that he is satisfied with the assessment of the OSCE and other international organizations regarding the elections process.
