36 International Observers to Observe Presidential Vote in Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic

Azerbaijan, Baku, 14 October/ Trend , corr E. Mammadov/A total of 36 international observers will observe presidential elections in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan.

A total of 24 observers are from OSCE and 12 from CIS, Maharram Gasimov, chairman of Central Election Commission of Nakhchivan AR said to Trend .

The presidential elections in Azerbaijan will be held on 15 October. A total of seven candidates will take part in the elections including Ilham Aliyev, chairman of Ruling New Azerbaijan Party, Igbal Agazade, chairman of opposition Umid (Hope) Party, Fazil Gazanfaroglu, chairman of Great Establishment Party, Gudrat Hasanguliyev, chairman of Unified Popular Front Party, Hafiz Hajiyev, chairman of Muasir Musavat Party, Fuad Aliyev, chairman of Liberal Democrat Party and independent candidate Gulamhuseyn Alibayli.

The CIS observers will observe elections in all polling stations on the base of 7 Constituency Election Commissions, Aleksandr Oskolski, head of a group of CIS Coordinating Council for Observing Elections in Nakhchivan said to Trend . The international observers will also take part in counting of votes as well.

Furthermore, web cameras have been installed in 25 polling stations in Nakhchivan which secures an access to observe voting from ant part of the world.

There are 316 polling stations and 7 Constituency Election Commissions in Nakhchivan. Civilians will vote in 292 of polling stations and military men in 34.

Nearly 248,335 voters have been registered in Nakhchivan AR, 6,635 of which will exercise their vote right for the first time.

Information about the voting will be sent to Baku 5 times a day (at 10:a.m., 12:00a.m., 03:00p.m., 05:00p.m. and 07:p.m.).
