The Netherlands Intends to Protest Russia’s Use of Cluster Bombs: Georgian Parliamentary Speaker

Georgia, Tbilisi, 21 October / Trend corr. N.Kirtzkhalia / The Netherlands intends to take several demarche steps at an international level against Russia, David Bakradze, the speaker of the Georgian Parliament, said to journalists in the Hague.

The Netherlands Foreign Ministry states that died TV journalist from Netherlands in the Gori region in August was blown up on the Russian cluster bomb. The special commission occupied on the issue made the corresponding results as a result of the investigation.

The journalist Stan Storimans, who had broadcasted the developments in Georgia for the RTL TV channel, died on 12 August. Storimans's colleague was also wounded. The death of the journalist was caused by the blown up of bomb. Earlier, the Russian commanding stated repeatedly that no cluster bombs were used during the conflict with Georgia.

The Netherlands intends to react toughly on the use of cluster bombs by Russia. "The Foreign Ministry of the Netherlands carries out consultations and is interesting in the details of use of prohibited armaments,' Bakradze said.

The Georgian Speaker said that the use of cluster bombs against the population in Gori was 'criminal and military crime against the humanity'. "This fact will be the key reason demarche of the Foreign Ministry of the Netherlands," Bakradze added.
