Further Reports of International Organizations on Azerbaijan’s Presidential Election can not Cast Doubts over Democracy of Vote: Ruling Party

Azerbaijan, Baku, 22 October/ Trend , corr J. Babayeva/ Shortcoming in the further reports by the international organizations on the presidential election in Azerbaijan can not cast doubts over democracy of the election.

"Observers of international organizations may reveal violations in some polling stations. But shortcoming can not cast doubts over democracy, transparency and fairness of the election," Ali Ahmadov, executive secretary of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party said.

The presidential election in Azerbaijan was held on 15 October. According to final results, Ilham Aliyev, chairman of ruling New Azerbaijan Party and current President won 88.73% of votes.

Seven candidates were running for presidency. Igbal Agazade gained 2.86%, Fazil Gazanfaroglu - 2.47%, Gudrat Hasanguliyev - 2.28%, Gulamhuseyn Alibayli - 2.23%, Fuad Aliyev - 0.78% and Hafiz Hajiyev - 0.65%.

International organizations who observed presidential election highly assessed presidential vote in Azerbaijan, Ahmadov said.

CIS, GUAM, OSCE have made their preliminary assessment about the presidential election in Azerbaijan. OSCE will release its final report on the presidential election soon.
