High-Level Uzbek-Bulgarian Talks Held in Tashkent

Uzbekistan, Tashkent, 7 November/ Trend , T. Zhukov/ President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov received his Bulgarian counterpart Georgi Parvanov in his Durmen residence, press service of Uzbek President reported.

Islam Karimov and Georgi Parvanov exchanged views on current state and prospects of Uzbek-Bulgarian ties, regional and international problems of mutual interest. During the conversation, Islam Karimov stated that the meeting was a good opportunity to analyze and discuss deepening of relations. "Bulgarian President's visit indicates Sophia's efforts and willingness to develop ties with Tashkent".

"Bulgarian President's visit to Uzbekistan will further contribute to development of bilateral relations. We consider Bulgaria our reliable partner. Economies of our countries are developing at a stabile pace. During the talks, we reached agreement to hold regular consultations on regional security and coordinated efforts within international organizations," Islam Karimov said. 

"Bulgaria-Uzbekistan relations have rich tradition. These relations are built on friendship and mutual confidence," Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov said.

The large delegation of both parties discussed trade, economic, scientific-technical, cultural and humanitarian cooperation.

The meeting ended with the joint statement by Uzbek and Bulgarian Presidents. They signed intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in information technologies, protection of a right to intellectual property and agreement on cooperation between Commerce and Industry Chambers of the two countries.
