Azerbaijan, Baku, 7 November / Trend , corr. A.Huseynbala /The opposition Liberal Democratic Party of Azerbaijan (LDPA) considers possible the joint participation of opposition parties in the municipal and parliamentary elections 2009 and 2010 respectively.

Fuad Aliyev, the Chairman of LDPA, said at the meeting of the Chairmanship Department that the election blocs lead to split amongst opposition and diminish hopes for success.

LDPA was founded in 1999. In 2000, after the Chairman Zakir Mammadov's death the party split into two parts in 2001. Valeh Ibadov and Fuad Aliyev pretended to call their party as LDPA. In 2004, under the decision of the Supreme Court of Azerbaijan, the party chaired by Aliyev was recognized as LDPA and held the state registration.

Aliyev said that if the opposition is united, it is possible to win the municipal and parliamentary elections. "The parties, which call themselves 'leading', but they are 'middling' in actual, intend to establish a union, and speak on the behalf of opposition," Aliyev said.

Aliyev believes that healthy opposition forces should hold a dialogue with the authorities. "A union of destructive opposition will split the society casting a shadow on the transparency of elections. I believe that it is necessary to ensure transparency in municipal and parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan, as well as a union of health forces," Aliyev added.

Aliyev considers the joint participation in municipal and parliamentary elections possible of the Adalat, Civil Solidarity, Azerbaijan National Unity Party, Azadlig, Social Democratic, Popular Front of Unified Azerbaijan, Great Establishment, Yurddash, National Independence, Great Azerbaijan, Classical Popular Front, Civil Unity, Umid parties and a new founded Aydinlar party.
