Georgian President Ready to Answer Before Parliamentary Commission for August Developments

Georgia, Tbilisi, 8 November / Trend corr. N.Kirtzkhalia / Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili is prepared to give testimony before the Parliamentary Commission for study of the August developments, Paata Davitaya, the chairman of the commission said on 8 November.

According to Davitaya, Saakshvili expressed his readiness at a meeting with members of the crisis management council on 8 November.

"The President does not have to make a speech before the commission, whilst he displayed civil solidarity," Davitaya said.

David Bakradze, the speaker of the Parliament hailed the President's decision. "He does not have to do it, whilst he expressed such an initiative himself. This is unprecedented case in the history of the Georgian Parliament," he said.

The Commission has interrogated some senior officials to clarify reasons of beginning of the Georgian-Ossetia conflict.
