Azerbaijan, Baku, 12 November / Trend corr. A.Huseynbala / An appeal by the Centre for Opposition Cooperation (COC), which unites opposition parties not participating in the presidential elections, against the Baku City Administration will be examined.

"According to the Sabayel District Court, hearings on our appeal will take place at 03.00pm on 17 November," Arif Hajili, the head of the Musavat Party Central Executive Body, which is included in the COC, told Trend on 12 November.

"Сябайел Район Мящкямясинин билдиришиня эюря, шикайятимизин арашдырылмасы иля баьлы просес нойбабрын 17-дя, саат 15:00 - а нязярдя тутулуб", - чяршянбя эцнц Trend Неwс - а МЯМ- я дахил олан Мцсават Партийасы Мяркязи Иъра Апаратынын рящбяри Ариф Щаъылы билдириб.

The Baku City Administration did not allow the COC, which did not participate in the presidential elections, to hold action at places, which the organization indicated in their appeal, on 28 October. The COC officials did not agree with the City Administration's decision and appealed to the Sabayel District Court at the beginning of November.

Centre for Opposition Cooperation includes bloc Azadlig (Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan, Liberal Party, Citizens and Development Party), Musavat Party and For Azerbaijan public forum. At early September, Azadlig bloc, Musavat Party and the Public Forum 'For Azerbaijan' signed a joint statement on recognition of the presidential elections to be held on 15 October as illegitimate. Government to be formed after the presidential elections was announced as illegitimate in the statement.

According to Hajili, the appeal, which was sent to the Baku City Administration to hold mass actions, included nine places: "The City Administration did regard any of these places as acceptable and offered to hold action at the Bibiheybat stadium," the member of the Musavat Party said.

This decision contradicts the Law on Freedom of Assembly, he said: "The City Administration misappropriated powers, which do not belong to it. In accordance with the Law, only organizers of such actions should determine place of mass actions," Hajili stressed.

Hajili said that he, the Deputy Chairman of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan Hasan Karimov and the Deputy Chairman of the Azerbaijan Liberal Party Avaz Temirkhan will take part in hearings on behalf of the COC.
